Sometimes it's wisest to say nothing
There is much that I could say.
But why should I say it
when to say it is to reveal a part of me
that I want to keep secret?

There is much that I could say,
But why should I risk a backlash?
Why should I lose friends
and become no better than trash?

There is much that I could say
and it would all make sense.
But people don't want to hear it,
they've built a solid fence.

People like me have no right to speak,
they say, my opinion just brings shame.
My words though courteous and logical
just bring dishonour to my name.

So I guess I'll just say nothing,
Keep my thoughts inside my head.
Because the things that I could say
Are better left unsaid.

Experience has taught me
through many a painful day
that people have no sympathy
for what I'd like to say.

One day maybe things will change
And I can bear my soul
But until that day I'll guard my lips
Survival is my goal.

It's good to talk
but it's good to keep quiet as well.
If you have a secret others won't understand
Then keep it to yourself.
