He took his own life by jumping and I think I understand -
Depression cast a darkness over you;
The feeling that nothing
Will ever work out,
You gave up, my God, you gave up!
You didn't wait - for tomorrow
When things could have changed
For the better -
You didn't know that somewhere
There is somebody that loved you,
And would never be able to forget
That you took your own life -
You went to the edge
Of the quarry -
Looking down, did you see
An absolution of sin;
A release from pain?
Did you think about it long and hard
Before you decided that
Things were just too hopeless?
When you jumped
From the safety of the rails,
Did you know it was too late
To change your mind,
The deed was done -
There was no turning back
And the landing would just be
One more hurt;
We that are left behind
Pray for your soul,
Ever mindful that one day
We too may walk in despair.
