We write and write and write . . .
My pen slides swift across my page;
I capture yet another sigh.
One more piece of life revealed;
like layers of an onion peeled;
another lesson taught.

All life comes clear within my lines,
seeing with my poet's eyes
cities, farms and oceans pass,
I write my lines complete at last
raw emotion caught.

Oh love, oh war, oh hate, oh peace
I've seen it all and scribed it down.
The newborn baby's furtive cry,
the battlefield where soldiers die,
The battles that were fought.

All life lay bare upon my page;
each line delineates a soul.
The working ways from day to day,
or what's been learned along the way;
what futures therein wrought.
