I was thinking about politics while looking at my piano, and this came to me.
Double Agent

What’s wrong with American Politics?

One side pushes the F-sharps,
the other demands only G-flats,

They aim to please us, everyone,
but they don’t act like diplomats.

What’s wrong with Americans throwing sticks?

They’re pleasing with lying, like fake harps—
while pandering to the money,

one calling the other a murderer,
the other a mean old rich pitch,

But lately we’ve been noticing, everyone,
we people, we hear something funny.

We smell in the R and the D,
a pungence that reeks quite the same,

an agent against us, the we,
you charge them,

both of you—
in our name.
