I wrote this randomly one morning over a cup of coffee.
Some night,
When the wind creeps like a starving jackal through your back door

I will rise up from the darkness and take you away

When you are frail
I will lie by you
My memory will be an impenetrable shield

If the antagonistic skies of January crowd above
I will whisper of days when the creeks carried daylight on their backs

But you will have to listen closely
For you will not feel the warmth of my lips by your ear

You will not smell my skin

I am a spirit now

A truth ignored

However I live on

Partial to you
What small things I have been gifted
I will share with you
