"Grow old along with me ..." Finding wisdom in written words. (Form: Browning's original)
Echoes of Wisdom

“Grow old along with me!
The best is yet to be …”
mere words and lilting rhyme, yet echoing through time.
They whisper in my ears
and calm my dread and fears
as I stand in my prime viewing my final climb.

The blush of spring has past
and here we stand, at last
in the fading sun. The warmth of summer’s done.
I reach and find your hand
as we enter this new land
and discover, not an end, but the truth in words long penned.

There is beauty all around
and music in each sound
as we find, anew, the wonders shared by two.
Where others see an ending,
we see a bright ascending
reflected in the skies with each lambent sunrise.

And so I find my peace –
my worries I release -
for I know I’m not alone. The seeds of love we’ve sown
have flourished with the years
and, as time disappears,
I find my heart is free. The best IS yet to be!

Thank you for taking time to read my words. I would appreciate it if you took a moment and left a comment. Your reaction, impressions, criticisms, - yes, even praise *Smile* - are all equally welcome.
