It’s a whiskey kind of night
These porch-dreams flying by
Heard you had a new life
Figure that’s the end of me
There’s nothing left to say
There’s nothing more I can do

That damn sun don’t care at all
If I rise or if I fall
It’s not his place to mend hearts
Still waiting here for you to say
Tomorrow things will change
But this town I can’t escape
So like a memory I’ll just fade


Lullabies do me no good
And the saints they never could
Bless my soul I’ve lost my way
Remember every now and then
The feel of my skin
If you ever get cold
