Flash Fiction for my Writing Class
*Final Version*

The girl with broken wings lifts a dirt-smudged face to the angry sky before picking herself up from the wet rock that broke her fall. Ignoring blood and broken pieces, she staggers instinctively forward, finally collapsing on storm-drenched grass to sleep. Awakened by heat, she crawls into her forest, finding it empty, dark, and cold. She looks and looks for the others but they have fled. She is alone. Fading. Failing. Gone. Traces of blood, bits of life, and pieces of childhood call out to lifeless eyes that no longer answer. Her wistful tears and smile will haunt this glade forever.
