Sometimes the cards run cold; sometimes hot.

Five of hearts and eight of spades as hole cards.  That's my luck.  I throw the junk away.

Two limpers.

"Raise," says the big blind, for three times the pot.  Surprisingly, both limpers call.

Three and five of clubs, and seven of diamonds on the flop.  Possible flush and straight draws.

"Raise," from the big blind, doubling the pot this time.  The limpers come along again.

Deuce of clubs on the turn.  Completes a flush or straight.

"Raise," says the big blind, for half his remaining stack.

"Fold", from the first limper.

"Call," says the second.  Not much left behind for him.

Four of clubs on the river.  Any hole club for a flush.  Straights possible too.

"All in," says the big blind.  The limper shoves the rest of his chips.

The big blind started with pocket aces, one the ace of clubs.  A five high straight flush.  The limper has a king high flush.  Not good enough.

His World Series of Poker is over.  Several players wish him well as he leaves the table.  I'll be hearing the same if a hand doesn't come soon.

Took a couple of small pots early.  Now the blinds and ante's have risen to the point where I have to make a move.

Ah, big slick, ace king off suit.  Three limpers to me in the big blind.  Without position, might as well get it in now.

"All in," I announce.

What I need is...  Two limpers call.  I could triple up.

Three blanks on the flop.  No action.

Another blank on the turn.  Again, no action.

A King on the river.

"All in," says one limper.  Oh no.  The other folds.

I show ace king.  He shows king queen.  Pay day!

I won't hear the dreaded "better luck next year" quite yet.
