A poem I wrote while going through a break-up.
"Coffee and Cigarettes"

I woke in the morning
Thinking of having
Breakfast in bed on
This sunny Sunday.

Silver dollar pancakes
So little, so round
And golden brown:
Lathered in butter,
Dripping syrup
Or maybe
Your favorite
Beehive honey.

Eggs light and fluffy,
Spinach and cheddar,
Sprinkled with a dash
Of salt and pepper.

Then on the side
A bowl of sliced fruit,
Like ripe strawberries
Or some cantaloup,
And a nice tall glass
Of fresh orange juice.

But you weren't here
So I settled instead
For a bachelor's choice:
Coffee and cigarettes.
