how is that I knew you waited too?
I woke up the room was warm

Wrapped in the blanket, I must have looked so peaceful

Cocooned

One last crack, letting in the draft

But there's so much warm still left

I forgot for a moment

Where I was

As I always do

Then I knew you

It takes time

To get my life back piece by little piece

I mop the bathroom floor

Not brand new anymore

Petina of age

Into a folk cabin and out of a cage

It's true

Sometimes I get lost in you

The lake was like a painting made by God

His hand made the ice glow blue

Look out, you said, onto the water

I felt like I could walk on top

As long as I could hold onto you

Such incredibly flawed human beings

That's true

But how I waited for you

I had waited a lifetime for you

I waited to the sounds of apartment buildings, people screaming

Sirens

I like how I can hear the air blowing through the mountains near

And the echos of the highway close to here

They waited here for me

And wherever I went

I waited for you..
