A poem from a child to a soldier written in the outline of their drawn hands.
These are a picture of my hands
And I wanted to send them to you.
Though they are not as big as yours
There is one thing they can do.

My hands I lay them open
and inside them you will see
the words I have written
to the soldiers who fight for me.

While you are so far away
from your family and your home.
know that I am thankful
you are so brave and strong.

Listen to my one voice
and know your fight is just
know I do not doubt you
but give you all my trust.

I pray you come home safely
to this land that you and I love
Because you will fight for justice
Great Freedom will rise above.

Though you know great hardship
I keep you safe in my heart
It is pride you have taught me
Hope you give my heart.

Your hands they are strong
Your hands they are true
Your hands reach across the world
To do what only soldiers can do.

You carry the world
in the palm of your hands
Despite how hard the battle is
You stay until the end.

So my hands I lay them open
a small token just for you
Know your burdens are not forgotten
Let my thankfullness carry you.
