Home is the warmest of places, even when home isn't a warm place.
The warmest of places in the coldest of months
I feel it on my insides
A mental image worth a thousand words
Home is where the heart resides

A place where true beauty shines in deepest winter
A small town outside the city
Snow and ice glaze every tender inch even
But please take no pity

For when I think of home, I see it the same way every day
A picture of perfection
Where all my worries disappear faster than the new sun
A simple, blissful protection

For when the tough gets going and there seems no end in sight
And life has no reason or rhyme
I recall in my mind, the painted, serendipitous place
A picture literally frozen in time

And I realize that life isn’t so hard after all
It’s just a grand design
Everything will be worth it in the end
As long as I can make it home again, I know that I’ll be fine.
