a poem about God
There's a beauty to the thunder
as it flashes and resounds,
Lighting up the heavens
illuminating the ground.

I stand in awe at its power
tingling deep within,
For the mighty hand of God
has shown itself again.

I think of his creation
and know he wanted more,
For us to let him guide us
not our own paths that we do forge.

How he must hang his head
in heartbreak and discontent,
At the way we have forgotten
his own flesh that he had sent.

To give us everlasting life
his son was nailed to a cross,
Thinking we would surely cherish
what for him came at such a cost.

Instead we follow blindly
never taking heed,
And bind ourselves with sinful ways
filled with inner greed.

We look around at hunger
suffering and chaos,
And wonder how a God of love
could allow such a loss.

We never stop to think
it's all been done by man,
For how can we have Paradise
if God is not within?
