My impression of the forest floor.
The forest floor is a carpet of leaves.
Year after year colors....
Rust, yellow, green, brown, Leaves.
They fall, rot, and meld together.
The layers form a flowing weave.
It covers all which touch the ground.
The limbs that fell in a storm.
Animals, fallen to old age or felled as food.
Plants succumbed to the same fate.
Yet from below...
New shoots reaching for the surface.
Through the safe warmth of the forest floor.
A new generation to replenish the weave.
