Summer Tides
Written in 8th Grade, I think

Between my toes, the soggy sand, the waves against my aching feet,
I'll run with you forevermore, 'til once again we've chance to meet.
The pain I've felt for you has come and in my soul, I must abide.
Though tears stream down my face, I know
there's comfort in the summer tides.

I'm coming soon to reunited with you, my once and only love,
But first through water I must venture, just to reach the stars above.
The pain I've felt is finally gone - I've waited since my heart first died.
Though tears stream down my face, I know
there's comfort in the summer tides.

And as the waves engulf my body, trying to surround my head,
I don't feel either joy or sorry, only of the things you've said.
And in the waves, there are no tears, no matter how I've really cried.
Though currents swirl around my face, I know there's comfort in the tides.
