A brief satirical look at the champion of mankind: the collectivist
All collectivists, socialists, communists, etc. are middlemen by profession and if inspired, often ascend into the rarified air inhabited by the gods.  Although they produce nothing of tangible value, their vision of equality for all mankind is unparalleled.  Their heightened social awareness and superior intellect enables them to quickly identify social inequities, the victims thereof and formulate programs designed to "level the playing field".

Like their counterparts in the religious field who "get the call" to speak to God on behalf of the great unwashed, collectivists are sensitive to their calling to don the mantle of social priesthood.  With a zeal that would be the envy of the greatest of saints they gladly sacrifice their time and energy to the dictum, "the ends justify the means".  With such a lofty moral imperative they truly take on the aura of a beneficent god when they intercede on behalf of the oppressed classes.

No sane rational argument can resist the emotional appeal of their promise to eradicate the evil of poverty.  The oppressors of mankind have no chance when these soldiers of justice wield their swords of redistribution.  Greedy capitalists cringe at their relentless efforts to eliminate the profit motive's strangle hold on the world.  When they ride into the halls of justice on their great politically correct horses, banners of caring compassion heroically flapping in the wind, who could possibility oppose these brothers and protectors of mankind?

Of course, the guardians of the "have nots" deserve some reward for their selfless work.  No one should object to them getting a very handsome cut out of the flow of assets being forcibly transferred from the oppressors into the deserving hands of their victims.  Happily, there is a greater reward available to those collectivists lucky enough to rise to the upper level of social "sainthood".  Wisely, they confer on themselves the true nectar of their "god" - POWER.

Imagine the supreme rush these lofty beings must experience when they are able to control and direct the lives of millions of less fortunate people.  How glorious it must be to decide who is worthy of the manna they righteously wrest from the corrupt grip of the rich.  How rewarding it must feel to drain off capitalism's "excess" profits in order to fulfill the grand and all knowing plans of these true champions of humanity.

After basking in the glow of such greatness, I feel so petty and small for I am foolishly tempted to keep the evil trappings of affluence.  I know I should be ashamed for working so hard to selfishly better my life instead of turning it over to those they deem less fortunage.  If only I could somehow forget individual freedom and self-responsibility, I would be able to see the higher goodness inherent in the collectivist's call for sacrifice and selflessness.  I am confused because I am unable to understand why my earnest efforts to secure my life, liberty, and happiness should be ridiculed and my assets forcibly taken from me.  Perhaps that is why they are the exalted ones and I am just a pitiful white male with the misfortune of having been born and raised in America.

My only hope to gain favor in the eyes of the elite is to draw closer to their white hot lamp of POWER and bow down before their superior knowledge.  Perhaps a small slice of the pie they so judiciously carve will be returned to me before it is all gone.  My only concern is what middlemen will do when the playing field is finally leveled for everyone?  If we who must work to make the collectivist's dream a reality, are all getting an equal piece of the pie, who will be left to make another?  The middleman doesn't know how to cook.
