The importance of human politics in the grand scheme of things

ON POLITICS
Inspired by a quote by T. S. Eliot:
“Where is the wisdom that we have lost in knowledge?”

The clouds scud gracefully, purposefully,
bringing life and relief, swelling rivers, steaming swamp
bringing earth-altering flood and soaking mist
in perfect order – in perfect time.
Whilst donkey brays – Elephant trumpets – Heads bobble.

“I have the answers – He does not!”
“You who would have prosperity, listen to me!”
“Do you wish happiness?  Comfort”  Stuff?”
Solutions spewing from perverse head-knowledge-
“I will feed the hungry – fulfill the poor!  I feel your pain!”

The trees and grasses sway to the rhythm of the air
rendering life-giving breath to us –
full of knowledge – making our own demise
as the mass of man-made stuff encroaches ‘round.
“We will make it right in the world – will have peace.”

God’s wisdom moves, in perfect order, in perfect time -
moves on through the seasons while
knowledgeably we act, we create, we “fix”, we vote,
not considering the answers hidden in the seasons,
in the clouds, in every blade of grass and eye of insect.
Political beings, pathetically opining, dust.
