A poem inspired by my newborn trying ambitiously to stand in her crib.
Fidgety flap
Fidgety flup
Beating the air
As you try to get up

Laid by love
In your soft bassinet
Ambition to stand
Makes you so upset

Rest now in thy youth
Let thy smile light thy face
Rush not to the winter
Of Earths frigid grace

May our hearts nourish yours
As bliss keeps you warm
For in the dreams of a babe
The world can do no harm.

To see and to stand
'Tis sweet as fresh honey
You cant get enough then
The next crave is money

From one want to the next
The taste growing still
Til thy passions unmet
Makes thy soul run nil

Rest now in thy youth
My brave little girl
You've the rest of your life
To roam free in this world.
