Recently, God tugged on a hidden part of my being: my inner child-like faith.
Instantly, the vision seized me,
Stilled me, to words no human ear can fathom.
But I understood.
I’d seen the soul chained deep into the mire.

Falling like gentle rain upon dry bones,
Come old songs, old dreams, and quaint innocence.
A child I know well.
The still, small voice beckons me to remember.

Jesus welcomes those such as these.
But I cannot be that precious child, if I cannot serve love.
Then I remembered.
Remembered the face of my pain and unforgiveness.

Still, He calls me beautiful…
I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
No amount of sin can take nor invalidate the truth of who I am.
He says Rise and claim! He says Walk!

And the old dread fades away.
Child-like steps look to faith like the morning.
My chains are gone! They are loosed!
I walk and seize my life with boldness, which serves no fear.

Jesus. The Faithful Friend who remembered.
He rescued me from the deep pit of my sorrows.
He alone loves unconditionally.
He alone called back to life the precious child in me.
