This explains the danger of harboring our feelings.
Most people will go through their lives telling more lies than they probably realize. Until a lie becomes the truth for them. And everyone knows once you tell one lie it never stops. And then you must tell another lie to cover up the first one. Before you know, it a never ending cycle begins. Now you don't even know the truth anymore yourself. Then it seems these lies you have created turn into regrets. Unfortunately, holding on to our regrets will get us no where. They simply weigh our whole being down. It seems as though, we only punish ourselves with our regrets. But, in the long run, we simply end up passing our regrets, also known as our guilt, off on others. Before you know it, these regrets have turned into accusations. Believe it or not accusations can ruin a person's life. You simply must face and deal with your own regrets first; before, they become these out of control accusations. Which could lead to you needing to ask someone in your life, past or present, for their forgiveness. By asking for this forgiveness, you are admitting a wrong you committed. When you have wronged a person they sometimes get angry with you. Or they may even hold a grudge against you. A grudge can make a person become hard and full of hatred. When hate takes over a person it seems to control them from the inside out and consume all of their energy. You simply are not yourself anymore. No one wants to be around you. You may even become physically ill, more often. Before you know it, you are literally drowning in your own guilt. Whether you are the one needing forgiveness or the one able to forgive. Some can rest or be at peace after they forgive or have been forgiven. It's as if you have been released from your own prison. I believe the Devil produces this hate in us. And God allows us to forgive one another.
