a poem about the loss of my mother
Why did you leave us mom

I am not sure why she left us that day
Was it an act of selfishness?
Did the sorrow and sadness end her?
Was it a her final sacrifice to set her loved ones free?
years after her passing these questions still taunt me,
the one thing that's for certain losing her will always be devastating to me

A loving mother
suffering an inner conflict,
her mind battling her heart

A loving mother
Torn in two
Warm nurturing, holding her family close
Cold angry, forcing her loved ones away

A loving mother
displayed great acts of kindness
a true motherly love
She had parental instinct and the courage to protect,
shielding and caring not only my sister and I but our friends too

A loving mother
tortured by the storm of depression that engulfed her mind,
broken by the dark clouds, the waves of sadness crashing against her.
As loved ones we tried
We tried to defeat the storm
Battling our way through the dark clouds, desperately trying to force the light through.
Pleading with her to see our love

Sorry mom
I will never forget you
