Sand plays the messenger in this mysterious poem.
I let the sand slide
Through my fingers,
As it rested on
Foreign ground.
It was finished.
No one would
Ever know. To
A casual viewer,

It was only sand,
Lying on mossy ground.
Yet, I knew it carried a secret,
One that told of dried roses,
And scented paper.

It told an enchanting story
Of two hearts forever bound,
Their lives written over time.
I only knew of this secret.

It was not meant to be known,
And I did not intend to tell.
Let the dead bury their dead,
And the ground cast its spell.

For who knew that ordinary
Sand could hold a secret,
The tale of two lives held
Together now by a fading
Rose, over sentiment of time?
