My Prayer

I fall humbly to my knees
and whisper my prayer
through parched lips
a helpless wanderer
down the wrong roads
now seeking the path
of righteousness and grace
I've locked myself
in a prison of my own making
and only you hold the key.

I surrender to your graceful hand
please free me
from the shackles and chains
holding me down
absolve me of these burdens, Lord
save my broken soul
and forgive my weaknesses
have mercy on me
show me a spark of hope
beyond these dying embers.
