Story for the 100 words of horror contest....
I shouldn’t have been walking through the fairground at that time, but it was the quickest way home.

The night was treacle black; the cheerful candy coloured lights of the fair now switched off, rides still and foreboding looming in the darkness.

As I passed the carousel I stopped and blinked. That was odd. The poles were in place but the wooden horses were gone. I stepped closer then froze at the clatter of hooves against asphalt behind me.

Turning, I stared aghast as two dozen horses bore down upon me, grotesquely painted, white teeth glistening in the dark……
