Infidelity - the feelings of betrayal of a longtime spouse
FORSAKEN

Distant, vacant, bleary eyes
No longer shine with love’s surprise
Blindsighted visions memorized
And seeing more each day.

Blaring silence as eager ears
Await the sound they long to hear
One audible for thirty years
And muting more each day.

Passion’s scent invades the nose
Inhaled betrayal clings to clothes
Lingering stench, deceit exposed
And reeking more each day.

Two deserted thirsty lips
Unquenched, denied their true love’s kiss
Faking the smile of happiness
And fading more each day.

Invisible forgotten face
Behind a mask of veiled disgrace
Hiding the shame in every place
And baring more each day.

Cast aside this forlorn heart
Battered, broken and ripped apart
Pierced coldly by deception’s dart
And bleeding more each day.

Laden and tormented soul
Debased by abusive control
Wrought with grief demanding its toll
And moaning more each day.

Anxious in this wedding pew
Hearing the vows once lied by you
Salting the wounds of sorrow’s brew
And hurting more each day.

Cruel how love can turn away
Sacrificed for another play
Asking God’s help, no more delay
And praying more each day.
