tomorrow is the first day of the rest of my life
at the start
there is only the goal
the finish line
the confetti raining
to catch in my hair

and so I run
trying my best to keep up
with others who have
more talent
more staying power
more drive to the end
and I grow to love the running

what does it matter
who crosses a line before who
it was in the running
that I find my trophy
in the strength of my legs
and the stretch of my lungs

and now that the end is upon us
and the confetti is poised to fall
it doesn’t matter on who
I find myself looking ahead

tomorrow I’ll find it
my new challenge
my new horizon
my new run
