poem written for extravaganza contest
Whether I vainly cursed as I died, seemed irrelevant
I heard the bullets scream indeed
and for sure I prayed. In vain! In vain! In vain!
In the background as it all turned white,
machine guns chuckled…tut tut tut!

My face kissed the mud. o lord I'd been hit.
hiding as if a coward, while my comrades fell like flies
                                  my final thoughts escaped me
as if in tune with the slugs hovering past
                                  buzz... buzz buzz

                                              sent to protect and serve
                                              who am I protecting?
                                              Dear god! Dear God!
                                              I've killed them all
                                              a madman laughs...
                                              ha ha ha
