First chapter in a short story I hope to finish in the next few weeks. War-Adventure.
Where shall I hide? was the thought running around in my mind for the last twenty eight days. It was like a thunderous mantra, where shall I hide, where shall I hide?

I'd managed to get it right for a hideous month. My name is Captain Jack Collins of Her Majesty's Special Forces. At twenty five I'm a veteran of three and half years

of bloody conflict. I was captured by the Japanese five weeks ago and had immediately decided to escape  before I got too weak from forced labour and lack of food.

I'm six feet tall and fourteen stone, good looking in a rugged sort of way. My eyes are green and my hair is long and unkempt. I'd seen a lot of bad things during the war

but nothing like the barbaric cruelty in the camp where I'd been held.

The faint light of dawn started to appear in the east and the mantra rang out in my head. I moved only at night and hid and rested by day, so far I'd avoided the Japanese

patrols that were looking for me. The jungle was my loving friend and had provided me with the cover I needed. Now it was thinning out, making it harder to hide. In the

distance I saw a lone tree and raggedly ran towards it. With a mighty effort I pulled myself up into its canopy, there, I wedged my tired body in between its branches and

promptly fell asleep.
