Dark and emotional poem against abortion. For Lexi's Poetry Challenge.
How long will you ignore the innocents?
Are you immune to their elegies?
Yes, I've heard them sing:
sorrowful dirge, night after night,
chorus echoing in the dark, cruel tombs
where unmeasured sorrow lies.
They cry out in helpless terror,
pleading for someone to understand;
waiting for a higher purpose.
Do you know how devastating it is
to be called an accident?
To be ripped apart and forgotten?

Their silent screams of immature birth
fall upon merciless ears.
Their message reaches the heart
only to be struck down and buried.

How many more will never be told hello?
How many will only hear goodbye?
