Rhyming poem about a potentially disastrous situation that turns out to be a winner.
The housewife saw it was a mistake
When out of the oven, she dropped the cake

Quickly looking to see no one there
She scooped it up with skillful flair

The middle was still raw and she thought "What's the harm".
She remixed it in the bowl. "This will work like a charm".

"I'll add a tad more sugar to make it extra tasty".
She was working very hastily.

So she didn't realize her error.
When she grabbed the pepper

Until it was too late
and the black specks were falling at an alarming rate!

Alas, there was nothing she could do
The guests were arriving soon.

"Just half an hour and it should cook.
I'll set a timer and take a look".

When the timer rang, the cake was done.
people were coming one by one

At the end of the meal she served the cake
just standing there trying not to shake

"This is so delicious!" said the lady in the blue hat.
The rest agreed and that was that.

"Why thank you." replied the housewife amid disbelief.
She just sat there and smiled......... with a sigh of relief.
