A night walk takes this person to an unexpected place.
Night Walk
It was futile for me to go to sleep that night.
I tried to close my eyes,
but could only gaze at the moonlight caressing the shore.
The soft rhythm of the waves seemed to call me to come.
To come. To come.
I wandered along the shore for a long time.
And as I walked, I sensed that all of the wild animals were letting me pass.
They watched me turn onto a path that led me to a place I had never explored before.
There, in a clearing, was an old building with one stained-glass window on the back.
I went inside and saw a figure with a mask on half of his face.
His mouth moved, but I heard no sounds.
I shivered.
My legs buckled and I fell down.
There was darkness.
As my eyes opened, a hand reached out to help me up.
No more was I inside the old building.
The figure had no mask on.
I saw a man whose tender smile gave me warmth and strength.
He took me back to my room in the asylum
where I found the serenity I was searching for.
