A poem written for someone very close to me who is very far away.
I fell into the ocean today,
And he told me he loved me
So on his rolling back he carried me
Far, far away

He lapped my skin with kisses
And swaddled me in coolness
Cried for my sadness,
And other things he misses

He carried me ashore
And promised he would stay
An ocean far from home
With waves breaking in our core

But water belongs to the sea
And though he dreaded to go
Tides pull waters home
For differences certainly

I resided on the sands
And became one with the coast
Skin if white, hair of foam
I became the lands

And the ocean he still sees me
He still laps my skin with kisses
And brushes me with coolness
On the horizon of land and sea
