A poem about a wall unlike any other
A wall stood on the border
Of imagination
And insanity.
Strong with might,
Fought for right,
The wall held up through day and night.

Daylight of the enemy
Found it could not shine through.
It tried to cross over;
So the wall grew.

Darkness of the enemy
Ebbed against the wall.
Shadows tried to destroy it;
But it wouldn’t fall.

The enemy inside of me,
Who doubted my guard,
Attempted to climb the wall.
The enemy inside of me,
Who wanted more than nothing,
Attempted to climb the wall.
The enemy inside of me,
A lover all alone,
Attempted to climb the wall.
Despite it all-
I fall.

I willed the wall to crumble,
To weep as it’s defeated
In a battle proved fatal before.
Rocks tumbled,
Sky rumbled,
And with thoughts jumbled
The wall would crumble.

I fought with all,
But still the wall,
Refused to fall.

Bow down before me!
Drop to your knees!
The wall screamed insanities.
The wall made atrocities,
But I still believed.

I willed the wall to crumble,
To weep as it’s defeated
In a battle proved fatal before.
Then finally,
Despite it all-
It began to crumble.
On its knees it tried to crawl
But I just stood and watched it fall.
