A terrifying run from imagination.
It was well after midnight and very dark.
Off in the distance I could hear a dog bark.

The forest was extremely dark and dreary.
I think I heard a noise that was very near me.

I took off running as fast as my legs could go.
How was I getting out of this? I really didn't know.

I could see the monsters now through the gloom.
They filled my heart with a foreboding sense of doom.

The creatures had hands gnarled, long and thin.
With dark eyes to show places I had never been.

My heart was now beating fiercely within my chest.
This couldn't go on much longer without a rest.

I wondered if I should stop and try to fight.
But instead I continued my terrifying flight.

They scratched, gored and tore into my flesh.
The end was getting near if I were to guess.

One jump too far and I fell flat on the ground.
The beasts were everywhere. They were all around.

Just then the sun came up and I could see.
That all night long I was chased by trees.
