Jean makes a mistake
It was an uncontrollable desire,
That sent Jean into the forest at night,
An evil passion that set her brain on fire,
With visions that dimmed the full moon's silver light.

She did not want the purity of love,
To give salvation to her distressed soul,
Instead she sought a coal black dove,
To create a potion of mind control.

All of the potions other components,
She had placed on her dinner table,
She could afford no misjudgments,
Otherwise the potion would be fatal.

She found the dove nesting in an ancient oak,
And plucked three of its sable feathers,
A spell of protection she did not invoke,
Thus caught attention from the Warlock Elders.

***

They watched as she prepared the potion,
They wondered who she planned to enslave,
Cringed when she filled a bottle of hand lotion,
Perceiving it was for Great Granny Graves.

The Elders could not warn the Wandering Witch,
Without endangering their own powers,
They could only cause Jean's skin to itch,
By pouring on her venomous showers.

The burning itch caused Jean to scratch her arms,
Drawing blood and excruciating pain,
Jean poured the bottle of lotion onto her arms,
Which caused Jean to to go insane.
