The vibrant hues provoke a mental state
when doctors start to poke and postulate.
Behold! Behold! The Rorschach blot
incites psychotic polyglot.
Brilliant splashes of red, blue and yellow
energize this melancholy fellow.

I see a butterfly and think about
when we were flying high on love and shout,
“Hurrah! Hurrah!” The passion burned,
until you reneged and I was spurned.
Now, I lie on this psychiatrist’s couch
and ponder what my future may bring. Ouch!

The therapist’s calm tone and all those pills
are not enough to heal my wretched ills.
Alas! Alas! So many ways
that depression consumes my days!
The doctor tries to diagnose and cure,
but whether he will succeed, I’m not sure.
