Poetry entry for the Writing Muscle Stretch contest.
Tiredness
Like a heavy cloak, it clings to me
It hangs like relentless fog
Permeating my very soul
I cannot shake it
It bears down on me like a freight train
Leaving me flattened and spent.
I climb into darkness and pray for peace
For night to come and dreams
To sooth it and calm it back
So that when daylight breaks
I can find the spark
Of the new day.
And breathe life
Again.
