Who can know where goes our time? An exploration cast in rhyme.
DAYS OF OUR LIVES

The kitten gambolled in the grass,

A non-existent mouse to chase.

I watched it play through dusty glass,

Curtained now in faded lace.

The kitten has no fear of time,

No knowledge that his death is certain.

But I must certify that I’m

Prepared to face the final curtain

What happened to those golden days,

Bequeathed to me until my death?

Somewhere along the sensual ways,

I squandered them with every breath.

A future lost in fog and mist,

I cannot know where it will lead.

Those pleasures once I sought and kissed,

No longer meet my hurrying need.

So now I come to face the truth,

That past is past and cast in stone.

But reconcile sins of my youth,

Knowing that change is mine alone.

Be with me, love, and take my hand,

Together we will find the way.

A path towards a promised land,

Giving thanks for life today.

So, some time soon we both must be

Hostage to a certain fate.

With courage, strength and faith that we,

Can bravely travel through the gate.

What waits upon the other side?

We cannot know; no-one can say.

But this I know – love will abide;

And grow and flourish every day.
