Epiphany through forgotten eyes
There I sat broken and alone,
Lost in a world so magnificent and yet I remained so bored.
I looked over on this beautiful day
But a green gift filled with glory,
Though his time had already passed,
I saw him flutter so gently
I had chased leaves before, but as a child
Alluring fairies dancing so closely across God's lighted sky.
I lost such appreciation over time,
I began to see a leaf as only one of many.
And there now sat, but a friend long forgotten.
Something good I chased when the world was just beginning,
As the leaf moved so gently,
A gust of wind brought him to his feet
And generously carried him to his final resting place.
I smiled when I thought,
There are so many things I never should have forgot.
