Mom's Pancakes
Mom's Pancakes

To wake a man up on a morning so cold--and a dream so warm
You have to use a special method

How can a person stay in bed on such a beautiful day?
She would say

To start she gathered her tools
Flour milk, eggs salt, sugar butter
And a touch of cinnamon

I guess no blueberries today
She would say

Carrying a bowl--carrying nothing
She would stroll to the stove, tools in hand
Her bowl now full would sit next to the pan

Time to start the day
She would say

The sizzle and pop
The warm smell that overcomes a warm dream
Hearing footsteps, she would smile, claiming her victory

I miss mom's pancakes
