The Query Letter that I'm going to send to an agent

Dear Ms. Xxxx,

According to your agency’s website one of your genre specialties include fantasy and that your focus is on commercial fiction. So, I am pleased to introduce my novel, The Heroes and the Black Fire Lighthouse.

In The Black Fire Lighthouse, Garen is faced with a troubling journey ahead of him when three men come to his village of Kio to steal the Sacred Fire of Color Tablets. They begin destroying the village and end up killing his lifelong best friend. With the Fire of Color Tablets in their hands, they can now unleash the power of the Fire of Color Lighthouses, bringing terror and destruction down on the land. It is now up to Garen to stop them from lighting the mysterious and ancient Lighthouses and to protect the planet from absolute annihilation.

The peacefulness of Kio is about to come to an abrupt and violent end after three men in the search of power come to steal the Tablets from the protected Mount Killimore. No one knows what to do, except the Protector, who assigns the young Fire Raider, Garen, to search for these men and get the Tablets back before they can light the Lighthouse and bring terror upon their land. On his journey to stop them, he will come across many friends and allies and even more enemies. As Garen tries to find the men who destroyed his village, he finds himself caught up in a war between Humans and Hell Raiders, a monstrous creature thought to be lost to the memory of time. He faces the Darkness of the Dark Lord. How will Garen stop the Lighthouses from being lit when every time he tries to get to them, there's something blocking his path? Follow Garen as he meets new friends for life, faces death at its greatest degree and suffers as the Pain of Loss sets in. With an ending that will leave readers wanting more, the first part of this seven book series is only the beginning of Garen's adventure and only the prologue for any avid reader.

This adult fantasy story, set in a fictitious Earth roughly 50,000 years in the past before any written history, runs a little over 60,000 words.

My name is Kyle Peterson, 23, and I've been writing this series since I was 15. After many years of writing multiple books in the series (and others on the side), I have finally been able to complete the first part and couldn't be more excited about it. I've been interested in writing since the fourth grade after a writing assignment in my English class and reading the first Harry Potter books. Since then, I haven't been able to write enough and the ideas kept flowing into a seven part series and a number of other separate books.

Thank you for your time and consideration for reading my query letter. I have included the first nine pages (end of chapter) and look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Kyle B. Peterson
