Contest entry dealing with something broken
T’ Broken Earth


What beats within this land so close this time
To my hand and mind
What heart has timed its beat to mine
Its rhythm leaves none behind to find
What remains a broken heart the near winds unwind

Throbbing notes tender with terror so sweet in beat
Imagine now my swollen feet
Cries my own and I take a seat
Breaking down now in rhythm and heat
The same letters that make EARTH make HEART see
