You were So Small

Were you ever so small
And now you stand so tall
I first held you with pride and joy
Here I had such a small and wonderful boy

So strong you looked in my arms
And now you have grown to be a man
As a father I always wished you well
Now I am proud of you as a father could be

Even though you were my number two
My love has always been just for you
Your baby smile could make me melt
It’s true your love I always felt

You see a father’s love will never ends
It just grows over and over again
I tried to protect you from all your fears
And be there when you needed some cheers

You are far away as of now
And have a family of your own
Children so grown and dear
A wife that brings you so much cheer

Now even though you are not so near
I will always hold you deep in my heart
I’ll always be here if you need me

A true fathers love never ends
