Being alone means finding comfort and peace in the tiniest of things - a poem.
Whether we know we will ever be loved -
Whether we survive that deathly accident
Or traumatic event -
Whether we can ever reclaim good or reasonable health
From that terrible injury or illness.

And whether or not we can ever know
If there is an all-powerful, merciful God
Who might provide us with comfort and strength.

We are hopefully aware
But not surely knowing
If this blessing called Life
Offers the truest and most gifted rewards.

Yet, we shall remain ever patient,
Though somewhat sad and begrudgingly forgiving.

For an oyster like this is bound to contain
A wondrous and glorious pearl,
Which we shall hold most sacred and dear...
