An alien visits at night.
"It's time." A deep voice says as I close my eyes for sleep tonight. My head pops up and my eyes scan my bedroom for the owner of the voice. I see my cats eyes reflect in the darkness, but wait...my cat isn't that tall. The dark figure walks closer and I hurry to flick on my bedside lamp. "Holy crap, you're an alien!" I yell. Then the oddest thing happens; the stinking alien laughs and it sounds so normal.

"That's what you'd say to an alien Amy? Really?"

"Well I'd also say if I'd have known I was going to have company I wouldn't have worn my adult footie pajamas to bed." This elicits another chuckle from the invader.

"Oh, I guess I should have asked time for what?" I say dripping with sarcasm.

"The Alien Invasion starts tonight." Not impressed by this answer, I stare daggers at him. Well I'm assuming it's a him, it sounds like a man. Then he does a very human like thing and bangs his knee with his hand and laughs like it's going out of style. What's with this alien and laughing so much?

"I'm joking. It's really game time!" He bellows and just won't stop giggling like a school girl.

"Ha-Ha, funny. All the comedians out of work and your trying to be one. Seriously why is there an alien in my bedroom. You know you could have knocked. This is just borderline creepy." I ramble.

"Okay. All kidding aside. It's time for humans to know something and we decided you would be the one to tell the world." He says with not a hint of laughter.

"Yeah okay, I thought you were done joking?"

"I am. These are the facts. All the accounts of alien sightings are half true. Only we aren't some strange new creature from outer-space. We are humans traveling back in time from another planet after earth died, so we have evolved in the way we look. Your mission will be to create a machine that allows for time travel and we will give you a small piece of knowledge. You will spend the rest of your life building this machine." I wait for the punchline but there isn't one.

"Shut-up." I say as a bright light shoots from his hand, lands on my head and unconsciousness pulls me into darkness. My last thought is an alien with a sense of humor is my kind of alien.
