A short letter to my mom
Last week I came and brought you flowers
Purple and yellow...your favorites
I talked for what seemed like hours
But you responded with not one word
Not.  One.  Word.

Today is Mother's Day and
I returned again with flowers
And once more...silence.
It's been twelve years, Mom
Please talk with me
Tell me you love me
Have you forgiven me
For all those little things I did in my childhood ignorance?

The grave is a quiet place.
