TENDER HEART

I loved him dearly, more than words can say,
yet I must go on living, day after lonely day.
Tears come easily, even after so many years,
memories of our golden days outshine my fears.

I am keeping my emotions firmly in their place,
although I never forget the smile upon his face.
In my dreams I recall all the love we shared,
memories of our golden days when we cared.

My fragile soul seeks my own eternal rest,
for so many years together we were blessed.
The words etched on his granite stone impart
shadows of the past and breaks a tender heart.
