The Game

I dropped the ball.  I didn't mean to, but that didn't matter to all the parents that were screaming at me.  My teammates followed their examples and screamed at me too.

When I made a mistake I could usually hear my dad yelling above everyone else.  But not this time.  This time he didn't yell at all.  He just buried his head in his hands.  I guess he was too ashamed of me to yell.  I think I liked his yelling better.  It hurt less.

I lost the game, the championship game.

I'm a loser.

My dad's loser.
