This piece was written during a trying time in my life.
I Surrender

When a soldier is caught by the more powerful side in a battle they surrender.  We as children of God are also in a battle and must know the terms of surrender.  When we have been in the trenches of self-gratifying agendas and self-motivated wants and desires we must yield to the more powerful force.  As we have been trained that our own desires and pleasures are the most important and that nothing else matters.  Our worldly leader is only out for his own gain and cares nothing for the foot soldiers in the field.
But when we are captured by a mighty King we must surrender.  One of the terms of surrender is the releasing of our weapons. Which are self-doubt, poor self-image and selfish ambitions.  The victor also requires our ammunition as well such as low self-esteem, anger, fear and lack of motivation.  When we surrender we also turn over the very things we think will protect us.  When in fact they have been causing us much pain and sorrow.
}For as we surrender our weapons and ammunition we are given what we really have been fighting for all along.  Which is acceptance, peace, safety and love.  We have been foot soldiers for Satan for far too long.  It is time to accept the terms of total surrender.  The Lord is waiting for us to quit fighting for the wrong things.  Once we surrender our agendas and plans is when we can truly see the possibilities in our lives.
I finally surrendered 22 years ago I had reached what I thought was the point of no return.  I was using drugs and drinking heavily in order to try and cope with the war within myself.  I had survived many battles such as childhood molestation, rape and severe domestic violence.  I had lost my mother to cancer at 13 years old. Had just buried the only person who had shown me love after just a year of marriage from cancer.  I had reached a dead end as I saw it. But then a fellow soldier showed me where the battle lines had been drawn.
}Then the King from the victorious side stepped onto the battlefield.  I had a choice to make. Keep fighting with my useless weapons of self-doubt, low self-esteem, and poor self-image. Or surrender them and receive unconditional love, acceptance and joy unspeakable. What did I choose?  I gave up my old tattered garments and received a robe of pure white. I laid my weapons at the foot of an old rugged cross and became the child of the most high God. My new general is Jesus and my new walk is to be a reflection of Him to others lost in the battle.
When life's battles seem to blur the battle lines just look to the one who knows you best.  Surrender to Him and he will take you farther than you ever thought you would go.  He will give you a greater purpose for your life if you will just surrender.
